Fan-C-Ful is filled with flowers and the graceful curves
of water lines set on an oriental fan. An array of
surface stitches of silk and the incorporation of metals
in subtle tones will bring the flowers to life.
The
emphasis will be what is done to the canvas prior to
stitching. We will explore various techniques of
gold leafing done in Japan as taught to me by the
National Living Treasure of Embroidery. We will
work with stencils and gold paste on the black canvas,
used especially for its color to enhance the stitching. |
