OCEAN WAVES

Waves in oriental embroideries have been treated, for many centuries, in a highly stylized manner.  They feature the splashing foam above an undulating pattern below.  The waves will be couched in Japanese metal and braid; gold, silver and copper with beads depicting the droplets.

There are four outer trellis pattern areas with the concept of fading out in color and thickness of thread.  These patterns do not butt the wave motif to allow this area to breathe and stand alone to avoid its receding and disappearing into the wave area.  The separating lines between the patterns will be stitched in a copper metallic to intensify the warm tones in the design.

All materials used will be metallics with the exception of the beads. Couching is the main focus of this design.
